September is our annual Bible Drive for Love Packages.  Each September, several of our advertisers around Central Illinois agree to collect used Christian literature for us.  Many listeners collect Bibles and books all year, waiting for a nearby drop off location to be available.  We’ll bring all the donated materials to the station in early October.  Our storage building is already 60% full.  We expect to be bursting at the seams after getting the materials from our drop off locations.  Steve Schmitt from Love Packages will come in October to collect the materials for delivery around the world.  See our website for a list of all the drop-off locations, and accepted materials.

Our semi-annual Spirit of Giving week is September 25 – October 1.  This is our version of a fundraising week, only we remind everyone to give to our teaching and family programs.  Those programs account for almost half of our revenue and need to hear from you so they’ll want to stay on WPEO.  We have two new programs, “From His Heart” with Jeff Schreve, and “Moving Forward”, with Dr. Stephen Rummage.  We hope listeners will come along side these new programs like you have our legacy programs.  There’s more on our website about Spirit of Giving week.

Coming Soon!

  • WPEO has commissioned development of a new logo and graphic look for the ministry.  Some of the comments we’ve received so far on the new design include “fresh,” “contemporary,” and “stylish.”   We hope you like it.  We’ll release it to the world when our new website is ready to launch, hopefully in October.

  • Pastor Appreciation Month is in October.  WPEO will, again, ask listeners to enter their pastor into a drawing for a free two-night stay at a beautiful lakeside cabin in the Shawnee National Forest.  You’ll hear announcements once we’re accepting nominations.

  • WPEO needs to update our production studio and recording equipment.  That’ll be the focus for our year-end fundraising.  More information will come in November.

Milestones!

  • John MacArthur, Grace to You, celebrated his 83rd Birthday on June 19. He still preaches every Sunday at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles.  We hear his sermons are as strong and long as ever.  His program, “Grace to You,” airs every weekday at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m.

  • Joni Erickson Tada, “Sharing Hope,” celebrated 40 years of marriage to Ken on July 3.  Joni has been a quadriplegic more than fifty years, and just released her most recent book, Songs of Suffering.  The book contains 25 devotions and hymns she knows by heart and sings to help her cope with the unrelenting pain of her quadriplegia.  I have a copy, and highly recommend it to you.  “Sharing Hope” airs M-F at 6:00 a.m., 7:30 a.m., and 8:50 p.m.

  • Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, “Revive our Hearts,” celebrated her birthday September 3.  Her annual True Woman conference will be September 22-24 in Indianapolis.  “Revive our Hearts” airs M-F at 6:05 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.

  • Dennis & Barbara Rainey celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary September 2.  Dennis was the founder and long-time host of “Family Life Today.”  WPEO has been a “Family Life Today” station since the program’s founding. Today, Dennis is still the voice of “Real Family Life,” which airs M-F at 9:55 a.m. & 12:57 p.m.

Thank you for listening and supporting the Word, WPEO!
