July 1st - 7th

'One Voice' a Southern Gospel Trio from Marion, Illinois will be performing in concert at First Baptist Church in Pekin on July 5th at 7pm. The admission is free and a love offering will be taken. Revolution Youth Group at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene is having a Shoe Drive. Please donate your new or used shoes you no longer have a need for to their Collection called Soles of Blessings. The shoes will be collected and sent to other countries to bless others with shoes that have none. While blessing others, the kids will be raising money to go to youth events. They will be collecting now through August 31st. Please call 309-346-3053 and they can schedule a pick up or give you information on when you can drop the shoes off at the church.

Faith Baptist Christian School in Pekin announces its Summer Quest Program. Much more than a DayCare, Summer Quest is a fun educational experience for children aged 4 through the 5th grade. Summer Quest is held every weekday from June 9th through August 15th (except July 4th) from 7am to 6pm. Cost is a $50 registration/activity fee and $115/week. Special discounts are available for multiple children and for those who only need certain weeks within the summer. Contact the school office at 309-347-6178 to sign up.


July 8th - 15th

Lighthouse Church of God is hosting a Kids Crusade for children ages 5 to 12 yrs. of age on July 10th and 11th from 6-8pm. Registration will begin at 5:30pm. Children under 4 yrs. of age must be accompanied by an adult. It's a time to learn about Jesus by singing, puppet shows, clowns, and by hearing the word in a fun filled way. "Spoken 4 Quartet" from Branson, Missouri, will present a concert at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 401 Walnut Street, Washington, Illinois, on Saturday, July 12th at 7:00 p.m. The church is located four blocks east of the town square. July 16th- 31st

Every other month Roanoke Mennonite Church shows a movie through the movie and this month they are excited to offer a free, pre-DVD release showing of the hit movie God's Not Dead on July 18th at 6:50pm. God's Not Dead weaves together multiple stories of faith, doubt, and disbelief. This film will educate, entertain, and inspire moviegoers to explore what they really believe about God. If you missed it in theaters, now is your chance to see the box office hit everyone was talking about. The church can be located at 1195 County Road 1600 E. in Eureka. Get ready for this year’s Fathering Adventure’s Weekend! This Father & Son, Grandfather & Grandson, Uncle & Nephew adventure weekend will be July 25-27th. This weekend will give dads opportunities to speak biblical truths into the lives of their sons mixed with loads of fun and adventure. Pastor Bassam will be speaking at Grace Presbyterian Church on 'The Koran and the Cross' July 27-29 at 6:30pm all three nights. Pastor Bassam has led more than 1200 Muslims to the Lord, one at a time. If you desire to learn more about how a Muslim thinks and responds to a Christian view point this is a great opportunity for you. Pastor Bassam has been working with Muslims in the West Bank for 25 years. He has written numerous books on the Koran. Bethany Community Church is announcing an extension to volunteer services to tornado affected homeowners, farmers, and businesses. As volunteers make themselves available, they hope to send teams on August 9, September 6, and September 20. Bethany Community Church would also like to announce Dumpster Day. On August 2, affected residents of Washington, Roanoke, East Peoria, and Pekin are invited to bring e-waste (computers, televisions, DVD players, etc.), tires, general waste, and vegetative waste to fill 7 different dumpsters on Bethany’s property at 27265 Dutch Lane.
