Illinois Prairie District Public Library in Woodford County announces a summer reading program for the entire family! The theme this year is “Reading Colors Your World,” and participants are encouraged to read colorful books and participate in colorful activities. The program runs from June 6th through July 26th. IPDPL’s program is open to readers of any age, from babies and toddlers to senior citizens. IPDPL is encouraging families and friends to register and read together this summer. This is a great way to get your kids reading and give them a chance to earn fun prizes! To get signed up, visit ipdpl.beanstack.org.

 

Don’t forget to register for Vacation Bible School at Tremont Baptist Church on June 28th - July 2nd! Join in for a fun time of games, crafts, music, snacks, and learning about Jesus. The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the continuation of the 4th of July “Honor America Celebration” firework display at Pekin Memorial Stadium this summer. The fireworks display will be held at nightfall on July 4th, with a rain date the following evening. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Pekin Farmer’s Market on June 17th and 24th from 3:30-6pm.Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gates of the stadium on July 4th. Admission is $5 per person ages 13 and up, $1 for ages 6-12, and ages 5 and under are free. Gates will open at 7pm on July 4th with pre-show entertainment and concessions available. This summer’s Deeper Still Women’s Retreat will be held on July 16-18th. Deeper Still retreats exist to bring lasting healing, hope, and freedom to women and men who have an abortion in their past. The Central IL Deeper Still chapter offers a unique opportunity to get away for a weekend retreat where you will receive biblically-based teaching and support for emotional healing from your past abortion(s). This retreat is being held at a beautiful retreat facility in Central IL, not far from the Bloomington/Normal area.  For confidentiality purposes, the address of the retreat facility will be given once participants are registered. Grace Church in Normal is celebrating 60 years with a carnival and comedy show on July 17th. The carnival begins at 5pm with free food, fun, and games. The comedy show begins at 7:30pm, featuring comedian Chris Strait, who has spent more than 20 years entertaining audiences all over the world. He’s a regular at church events and fundraisers across the US and Canada. His laid back style will have you feel like a member of the family. Grace Church is located at 1311 W Hovey Ave in Normal.
